A tanker was approached by 2 small craft whilst underway 36nm Southeast of Ash Shihr, Yemen. A large fishing vessel was following the 2 craft and is suspected of being a mother vessel. 2 small craft had up to 4 persons onboard each boat and approached the tanker from the Yemeni coastline. Weapons were sighted and the Armed Security Team noboard the tanker fired a warning shot as the 2 craft came to within 300m, followed by a second shot at 200m which resulted in the craft aborting the approach and heading North.

Following recent incidents off the coasts of Ghana and Ivory Coast, which is not a normal hot spot for piracy incidents,
mariners are advised to remain vigilant at all times whilst operating in these waters and surrounding waters, especially in
the coming weeks according to the IMB Piracy Reporting Centre. This information is also in conjunction with creditable
information being received stating that Pirate Action Groups in the Bayelsa State, Nigeria are planning to launch
speedboats deep offshore to attack vessels with the aim to kidnap crew for ransom. All vessels must maintain a strict
Anti-Piracy Watch and any suspicious activity witnessed must be reported to the local authorities.
(3) Incident Type : SUSPICIOUS APPROACH | Vessel Type: FISHING VESSEL
1230 UTC | 01 October | Posn: 02-28.30N 004-37.54W | Gulf of Guinea
A Fishing Vessel has been approached whilst operating approximately 170nm south-southwest of Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The crew spotted a blue speedboat, with up to four persons on board, approaching to within 3nm. The Captain increased speed and the distance from the speedboat, this resulted in the approach being aborted. The vessel and crew are classed as safe.
(4) Incident Type : ROBBERY | Vessel Type: TANKER
0342 UTC | 01 October | Posn: 06-21.01N 010-47.80W | Liberia
A robbery occurred on a tanker whilst moored at BMC Pier, Monrovia. A duty crew member on
routine rounds spotted a robber on the forecastle. The Duty Officer was informed, the alarm was raised and the local
security guard was alerted. Upon seeing the duty crew member, the robber escaped by jumping overboard stealing the
ship to ship messenger rope that was on the deck. A full search was conducted which confirmed no additional items had
been stolen.

2200 UTC | 29 September | Posn: 01-31.10N 104-49.00E | Indonesia
Between 16:00 to 22:00 UTC, robbers were able to board an anchored tanker, steal ship's
spares and escape unnoticed, 22nm Northeast of Tanjung Berakit, Pulau Bintan. Duty crew on routine rounds spotted
that the aft store had been broken into and the spares were missing.
(6) Incident Type : SUSPICIOUS APPROACH | Vessel Type: FISHING VESSEL
1130 UTC | 26 September | Posn: 03-36.00N 000-28.00W | Ghana
A fishing vessel was approached whilst underway, 110nm Southeast of Takoradi. One skiff with
up to ten persons onboard, approached and began to chase the fishing vessel, but later aborted its pursuit. The vessel and crew are reported as safe.
(7) Incident Type : ROBBERY | Vessel Type: BULK CARRIER
UNKNOWN | 23 September | Posn: 01-15.04N 104-05.05E | Singapore Strait
Robbers were able to board a bulk carrier and escape unnoticed, whilst underway in the
Eastbound lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme. At 0200 local time, the Chief Engineer was conducting routine rounds and noted that a number of spare engine parts had been stolen.
(8) Incident Type : ROBBERY | Vessel Type: PASSENGER BOAT
0430 UTC | 17 September | Posn: 04-43.04N 007-04.07E | Nigeria
a robbery occurred on a passenger boat whilst transiting between Okrika and Port Harcourt,
within the Bonny river. Four armed robbers in one speed boat with an 85hp engine intercepted the passenger boat and
held the pilot at gunpoint. The robbers removed the passenger boat engine and ordered the pilot to jump overboard. The
Marine Police were alerted which resulted in the four robbers being stopped and arrested.
