SHIELD INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

(1) Incident Type : GENERAL ALERT |  Vessel Type: TANKER      
0810 UTC | 31 August | Posn: 12-26.00N 043-46.00E | Gulf of Aden

A Singapore flagged tanker was approached whilst underway in the Southern area of the Bab el Mandeb. Up to 2 skiffs with 6 persons onboard approached the vessel and came to within 300m of the tanker. The alarm was raised and the armed security team onboard displayed their weapons which resulted in the approach being aborted. No weapons or ladders were sighted onboard the skiffs, both the vessel and crew are reported as safe.

(2) Incident Type : ATTEMPTED ROBBERY |  Vessel Type: TANKER      
2105 UTC | 28 August | Posn: 01-42.80N 101-26.60E | Indonesia

An attempted robbery occurred on a chemical tanker whilst anchored at Dumai anchorage. 4 robbers, armed with knives were spotted by duty crew attempting to open the emergency towing equipment hatch. The alarm was raised and all non-essential crew retreated to the citadel. Upon hearing the alarm, the robbers escaped empty handed.

(3) Incident Type : ROBBERY |  Vessel Type: TUG BOAT      
UNKNOWN UTC | 29 August | Posn: 05-15.00N 004-00.00W | Ivory Coast

A robbery occurred on a tugboat whilst anchored at Abidjan. Robbers were able to board the tugboat, steal an outboard motor and items of safety equipment before escaping unnoticed.
