(1) Incident Type : ATTEMPTED ROBBERY |  Vessel Type : TANKER
0200UTC | 01 August | Posn: 06-27.30N 003-22.30E | Nigeria

Robbers attempted to board a tanker whilst berthed at Apapa new oil jetty, Lagos. A duty crew member spotted 5 robbers attempting to board by pushing the barbed wire up on the seaward side of the tanker. The alarm was raised and the Nigerian Naval personnel onboard mustered to the location, this resulted in the robbers making their escape in a small boat. All crew have been reported as safe.

A robbery has taken place on a container vessel whilst anchored at Manilla Bay Anchorage Area. Whilst conducting routine rounds, the crew noticed that the padlocks of the paint store and bosun store were broken. Ship stores including paints, welding machines, electrical drills, jigsaw electrical angle grinders, immersion suits, face shield, cylinder breathing apparatus, a helmet, self-contained breathing apparatus and a chemical suit were all missing. The Philippine Coast Guard responded to the incident and conducted a survey of the area but no suspicious motor bancas were spotted.

(2) Incident Type : ATTEMPTED ROBBERY |  Vessel Type : LPG TANKER
1404 UTC | 08 July | Posn: 03-27.05N 108-40.09E | Indonesia

Robbers attempted to board an LPG tanker whilst underway, 23nm Southeast of Natuna Island. Up to 5 persons onboard a boat came alongside and attempted to board the vessel. Upon seeing the suspicious boat, the Master of the LPG tanker took evasive manoeuvres and directed the signal lights towards the perpetrators, resulting in the boarding attempt being aborted and the boat and moving away.
