A robbery occurred on a barge under tow by a tug approximately 4.4 nm from Tanjung Piai in the precautionary area of the Singapore Strait. The robbers approached the barge using 2 boats with 3 persons in each. 2 robbers managed to board the barge and stayed on board for 20 minutes before escaping in the boats which were seen heading in a south west direction. The tug and barge carried on with its voyage to Singapore where it was discovered that a number of batteries were missing.
