(1) Incident Type : PIRATE ATTACK | Vessel Type : PASSENGER BOAT A passenger boat was attacked whilst transiting from Bakana to Degema, River State. 12 armed men ambushed the passenger vessel which had a total of 7 persons on board, including 4 policemen. The armed men, in 2 speedboats, opened fire on the passenger vessel resulting in the policemen returning fire. The passenger vessel driver and 3 of the policemen jumped overboard and swam to safety. The armed men attacked the fourth policeman and threw him into the river before kidnapping 2 civilians and escaping.
