(1) Incident Type : PIRATE ATTACK | Vessel Type : CONTAINER VESSEL
2010 UTC | 19 January | Posn: 05-08.03N 002-17.09E | South of Cotonou, Benin

A Container vessel was attacked whilst drifting approximately 80nm south of Cotonou, Benin. The Duty Officer spotted 2 armed pirates on the main deck, resulting in the main deck lights being switched on and the vessel proceeding to the west at full speed. As the vessel began to make way, a small craft with a ladder was seen departing the scene.

(2) Incident Type : ATTEMPTED ROBBERY | Vessel Type : CARGO VESSEL
2000UTC | 17 January | Posn: 06-15.00N 003-15.00E | Lagos Anchorage, Nigeria

An attempted robbery took place on an anchored vessel within Lagos anchorage. ISPS crew on watch noticed a canoe approaching the lowered anchor chain. They observed a robber climbing along the anchor chain. The alarm was raised onboard the vessel alerting the security, causing the robber to abort attempting to board the vessel. The robber then fled the area by canoe.

2057UTC | 16 January | Posn: 03-38.00N 006-40.00E | Southwest of Bonny, Nigeria

A Cargo vessel has been attacked approximately 50nm southwest of Bonny. A speed boat with 5 armed pirates onboard, approached the vessel resulting in the onboard Navy Guards firing warning shots. The pirates aborted their approach, whilst retreating the pirates did fire 1 shot at the vessel.

(4) Incident Type : PIRATE ATTACK | Vessel Type : FISHING VESSEL
1200UTC | 16 January | Posn: 05-29.09N 119-03.02E | Malaysia

A fishing vessel has been attacked by a number of pirates in a speed boat, 4nm NW off Tambisan, Lahad Datu (Exact location unknown). The Malaysian authorities located and intercepted the fishing vessel. The pirates kidnapped 5 members of crew, leaving 3 members of crew onboard the vessel.

(5) Incident Type : SUSPICIOUS APPROACH | Vessel Type : TANKER
0424UTC | 15 January | Posn: 03-54.19N 009-33.15E | Douala Inner Anchorage, Cameroon

A tanker was approached whilst anchored at Douala inner anchorage. The suspicious boat initially made an approach towards the starboard side, amidships of the tanker. Upon seeing the security guard, the boat
changed course towards the stern of the vessel. The security guard made a number of attempts to signal to the boat to stop approaching without success. The security guard then fired a warning shot resulting in the boat aborting its approach.

(6) Incident Type : ATTEMPTED ROBBERY | Vessel Type : CONTAINER VESSEL
0345UTC | 13 January | Posn: 06-01.05N 001-15.03E | Lome Anchorage, Togo

8 persons in a small boat attempted to board an anchored container vessel at Lome anchorage, Togo by using ropes with hooks attached. The crew retreated to the citadel and raised the alarm. A Togolese
Navy patrol boat arrived to investigate. The crew eventually emerged from the citadel upon daylight.

(7) Incident Type : ROBBERY | Vessel Type : CONTAINER VESSEL
0004UTC | 13 January | Posn: 14-22.91S 040-42.55E | Nacala, Mozambique

A duty crewman on board an anchored container vessel at Nacala noticed 2 robbers armed with knives approaching him. The crewman informed the duty officer who raised the alarm resulting in the rest of the crew being alerted and the robbers escaping. Upon an inspection it was reported that a long rope had
been stolen from the forward store.

(8) Incident Type : ROBBERY | Vessel Type : BULK CARRIER
0030UTC | 13 January | Posn: 05-30.00S 105-17.00E | Panjang Anchorage, Indonesia

A robbery took place on an anchored bulk carrier within Panjang anchorage. The duty watchman
noticed the steering room lock was open and ship's engine spares were missing. The incident was reported to local authorities.
