Due to the United States carrying out an air strike which resulted in the death Iran's Major General Qussim Soleimani. There is now raised concern within the Persian Gulf. All vessels within the area or entering shortly are reminded to remain vigilant due to the increasing tensions.

2200 UTC | 02 January | Posn: 05-08.20N 005 20.80E | Nigeria

An oil dredger was attacked by pirates whilst operating approximately 3nm from the mouth of the Ramos river, Delta State. A firefight ensued between the pirates and armed naval personnel resulting in 4 of the naval members being killed. The pirates then boarded the vessel and abducted 3 of the crew.
