(1) Incident Type : SUSPICIOUS APPROACH | Vessel Type : TANKER
1300 UTC | 04 December | Posn: 14-00.00N 042-21.00E | Southern Red Sea

A skiff approached to a tanker whilst underway in the southern Red Sea. The skiff, which was black in colour with 3 persons onboard, approached from the starboard beam. The crew were mustered, fire hoses activated, vessels speed was increased and communication with a nearby coalition warship was established. As the skiff came to within 0.5nm of the tanker, the Armed Security Team displayed their weapons resulting in the skiff reducing speed and following from astern. The skiff aborted the approach.

 

(2) Incident Type : PIRACY ATTACK | Vessel Type : TANKER
1820UTC | 03 December | Posn: 03-05.05N 007-06.08E | Gulf of Guinea

A number of pirates boarded a tanker and kidnapped a total of 19 crew members approximately 80nm South of Bonny. 7 crew members remain onboard and were escorted to a safe port.
