(1) Incident Type : PIRACY ATTACK | Vessel Type : Cargo Vessel A Cargo vessel was approached by 1 speedboat whilst anchored in Cotonou Anchorage Area, Benin. The pirates managed to board the vessel by using a ladder. Once onboard, the pirates kidnapped 9 Filipino crew including the Master.
(2) Incident Type : PIRACY ATTACK | Vessel Type : PASSENGER BOAT 3 passenger boats have been attacked whilst transiting within the Degema Local Government area, Rivers State. 1 rescue boat was sent to the area and was ambushed by the same assailants, 2 rescuers were shot and killed while several others were wounded. Passengers have also reported that they were forced to swim to shore, whist a second rescue boat approached, the assailants reappeared and opened fire, resulting in the rescue boat sinking.
(3) Incident Type : PIRACY ATTACK | Vessel Type : FISHING TRAWLER A fishing trawler was attacked by a number of armed pirates offshore of Idenao. The fishing trawler was approached by 2 speedboats prompting military personnel to fire a warning shot. The pirates responded by firing back before fleeing. Nobody on-board the trawler was injured.
(4) Incident Type : PIRACY ATTACK | Vessel Type : Tug A number of armed personnel attacked a tug towing a barge within Doro river, Bayelsa state. In the attack, 3 members of the marine police were killed and 1 injured.
