(1) Incident Type : PIRATE ATTACK
UNKNOWN TIME | 23 September | Posn: 04-33.52N 006-53.00E | NIGERIA

Naval attached to Bille Jetty/Bonny, Rivers State, foiled an attempt by five pirates to attack the jetty and steal speedboat engines during the early hours of the morning. The Naval personnel exchanged gunfire with the pirates resulting in two pirates being injured. The pirates managed to escape taking their casualties with them and injuring one of the Naval personnel who later died receiving medical care.

2 passenger boats have been hijacked whilst underway in Bonny River. The vessels, which had 24 passengers in total, where transiting from Port Harcourt Jetty to Bonny Island when a number of pirates onboard two speedboats boarded and hijacked the vessels. The whereabouts of the vessels and passengers are unknown.

A robbery occurred on a cargo ship whilst anchored 16nm east of Bandar Penawar, Johor. The Bosun spotted three robbers on the forecastle and informed the Officer of Watch, who raised the alarm. Upon seeing the alerted crew, the robbers escaped with a mooring rope..

(4) Incident Type : GENERAL ALERT
1900 UTC | 25 September | Posn: 04-46.00N 118-58.00E | MALAYSIA

Philippines and Malaysian Intelligence reported that approximately 9 Abu Sayef Group members proceeded from Tawix Islands to Semporna waters with the intention to conduct abductions. The group are reported to be targeting foreign tourists at Mataking and Pom-Pom Islands, Semporna. Seafarers and vessels are also stated to be at risk. The group are using two speed boats and are armed with a variety of modern automatic weapons. The serious threat from this group is one of the factors in the recent abduction of fisherman at Tambisan Island.

(5) Incident Type : ROBBERY
1755 UTC | 23 September | Posn: 17-03.04N 082-26.12E | INDIA

4 robbers have boarded an anchored a LPG tanker in Kakinada anchorage, India. The robbers boarded the vessel via a boat and using rope attached with a hook. Crew noticed the robbers and sounded the alarm, which resulted in the robber escaping with the ships stores. The incident was reported to Port authorities.

2000 UTC | 18 September | Posn: 01-06.21S 116-44.18E | INDONESIA

2 robbers boarded a berthed chemical tanker at Dermaga Kencana Terminal, Balikpapan, Indonesia. Crew spotted the robbers and raised the alarm resulting in the robbers escaping without incident.

(7) Incident Type : SUSPICIOUS APPROACH

A tanker in transit from Lagos to Port Harcourt has been approached by one speed boat with seven men on board, approximately 45nm South of Bonny Island. One ladder was sighted on board the speed boat.
