(1) Incident Type : ROBBERY
0315 UTC | 23 September | Posn: 06-17.42N 003-14.06E | Nigeria

Robbers were able to board a tanker at Lagos secured anchorage. The report states that crew members raised the alarm after they were threatened by 2 robbers. Nigerian Navy responded to the alarm and upon investigation it was noticed that the vapor locks on the front cargo tanks had been opened and a section of razor wire was not in place.

(2) Incident Type : PIRATE ATTACK
0458 UTC | 23 September | Posn: 05-34.05N 119-07.05E | Malaysia

Armed pirates in two pump boats managed to board two fishing vessels as they were engaged in shrimp fishing operations 6.3nm north of Tambisan, Sabah. Once on board they stole all documentation and crew cell phones. As the pirates escaped, they kidnapped three crew members from one of the fishing vessels and headed toward Tawi Tawi Islands. The report also states that pirates are actively selecting soft targets such as fishing vessels.

(3) Incident Type : SUSPICIOUS APPROACH
0730 UTC | 23 September | Posn: 04-25.00N 007-21.00E | Nigeria

Fishing boats 1nm off the mouth of the Andoni River, Bonny Island raised the alarm on VHF regarding a speed boat with armed men on board acting suspiciously and aggressively toward several other fishing boats in the area. The alert was passed on by supply vessels also working in the area resulting in lock down procedures being activated and a security vessel informed. The vicinity was searched and cleared by the security vessel after the speed boat had left. The area returned to normal operations an hour later.
