SHIELD INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

(1) Incident Type : ATTACK | Vessel Type : CARGO VESSEL
0500UTC | 21 April | Posn: 03-31.05N 007-06.17E | South of Bonny, Nigeria

A cargo vessel has been attacked approximately 50nm South of Bonny. The cargo ship was underway from Takoradi to Onne when she was attacked and boarded. The owners lost communications with the vessel and reported her as missing when she did not arrive at Onne port at the scheduled time and her AIS history showed a deviation from her original planned route. The Nigeria Navy dispatched a patrol boat who located the vessel adrift and have reported that all crew members have been kidnapped.

[UPDATE] 
14 number of crew were found hiding onboard on the vessel and are reported as safe and well. They managed to sail the vessel to Bonny under naval escort. Total number of kidnapped crew has not been confirmed and shall be updated accordingly. 

(2) Incident Type : ATTACK | Vessel Type : PASSENGER BOAT
UNKNOWN | 20 April | Posn: 04-30.00N 006-42.00E | Bartholomeo River, Nigeria

A passenger boat was attacked by pirates in the Bartholomeo River. The C of C National Youth Council of Nigeria and the Chairman of Petroleum Rivers State were returning from Local government primaries and were among the passengers. During the incident 2 passengers were reported killed, 2 abducted and 4 others seriously wounded by gunshots.

(3) Incident Type : BOARD (ROBBERY) | Vessel Type : BULK CARRIER
2200UTC | 18 April | Posn: 00-15.29S 117-36.70E | Muara Berau Anchorage, Indonesia

Robbers were able to board an anchored bulk carrier unnoticed at Muara Berau Anchorage. Duty crew conducting routine rounds, found that the forecastle padlock had been broken and items from the ship's store had been stolen.

(4) Incident Type : BOARD (ATTEMPTED ROBBERY) | Vessel Type : CARGO VESSEL
1915UTC | 17 April | Posn: 22-11.3N 091-42.1E | Chittagong Anchorage, Bangladesh

6 robbers in a black boat tried to board an anchored cargo vessel from astern. The crew noticed the robbers and raised the alarm. 1 robber managed to board the vessel and threatened the crew by showing a knife. Hearing the alarm and seeing the alerted crew the robber escaped without stealing anything. All crew reported safe.
