SHIELD INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

(1) Incident Type : ATTACK | Vessel Type : TANKER  
0535UTC | 31 March | Posn: 13-57.00N 051-43.00E | Near IRTC point B, Gulf of Aden

A vessel was attacked 80nm west of IRTC point Bravo. The vessel was underway in the east bound lane when 2 skiffs approached and then opened fire. The vessel's onboard security team returned fire resulting in both skiffs aborting the attack. The vessel has continued on her voyage and all crew are reported as safe.

The vessel involved in this incident was a tanker. 2 armed pirates were onboard each skiff and opened fire when they came to within 100m, resulting in the tanker sustaining minor damage. Ladders were also sighted in the skiffs. 

(2) Incident Type : BOARD (ATTEMPTED ROBBERY) | Vessel Type : TANKER
0400UTC | 28 March | Posn: 06-30.45N 003-24.7E | Lagos Anchorage, Nigeria

A berthed tanker was boarded by 2 robbers who were spotted by the duty crew on routine rounds attempting to hide behind a forward cargo tank dome with a flexible hose. The Duty Officer was informed, the alarm raised and crew mustered. Upon seeing the alerted crew, the robbers escaped. 2 skiffs with 8 robbers were seen moving away from the vessel. The terminal watchman and jetty Duty Officer boarded the tanker and carried out a search. Nothing was reported stolen.

(3) Incident Type : BOARD (ATTEMPTED ROBBERY) | Vessel Type : BULK CARRIER
2030UTC | 27 March | Posn: 00-16.5S 117-41.5E | Muara Berau Anchorage, Indonesia

4 robbers managed to board a bulk carrier at anchor in Muara Berau anchorage from a small boat while 2 others were left waiting in the boat. Duty crew conducting routine rounds discovered the robbers and raised the alarm. Upon seeing the alerted crew, the robbers escaped empty handed.
